Mayweather, Pacquiao Trade Insults Over Social Media

The two most famous boxers of this generation, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, have begun to throw shots at each other in interviews and over social media sites. These are the two fighters today most recognized by casual or mainstream fans of the sport. The welterweight title-holders had previously been in negotiations to make a mega-fight, but the negotiations fell through on numerous occasions. Many experts speculate that this would be the highest grossing fight of all time, and sell the most Pay-per-view numbers for a boxing match in the history of the sport.

Manny took to Twitter to voice his displeasure about his belief that Mayweather would never fight him. Floyd responded with pictures of Pacquiao getting knocked out in his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, and quipped "Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke."

In an interview on Monday, Pacquiao responded by saying "I still feel sorry for him because he acts like an uneducated person. It's pitiful to me and I'm praying for him. He should fear God." Pacquiao is a very religious man, and even went on to quote Bible scripture. "For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" Pacquiao said.

It remains to be seen if all the talk will lead to a future bout, but the back and forth between the two future Hall-of-Famers has fans hopeful that this fight will finally be made after years of waiting.

  1. Would love to see these two go at it.
I've always been a fan of Pacquiao (I spend a lot of time around Filipino people haha)
Definitely will be spending an evening at the sports bar if this one airs.
